US car makers

I love trivia, and Mike and I have played the car guy trivia so many times we've run out of stuff the other doesn't know... but I've learned some new stuff.

GM, now no longer carries the Oldsmobile brand... ok, but did you know that once GM also included Oakland?

Between 1895 and 1958 some 2612 independant factories made automobiles in America. 664 communities in 46 states. But Arizona, Montana, Hawaii, and Alaska never have according to a '60's article in Motor Trend.

Some of the makers you'll be surprised by...
Singer, yup the sewing machine company.
Sears, and they only asked for $335 to $535. These could be ordered through the Sears Roebuck catalog.
Lastly, Waverly, whom I only know as a bike company that Alpohse Mucha did a couple of poster ads for at the turn of the last century. http://www.art.com/asp/sp-asp/_/pd--10032642/sp--A/Waverly_Cycles.htm
