Just wanted you to know that I'm going to be adding to a lot of the posts of magazine advertisements

I've been constantly adding to the Sun, Airguide, and Stewart Warner tachometer posts, the Sunbeam Tiger post, Shelby advertisements, and Mooneyes advertising / Moon Beam dragster posts, the Edelbrock early 50's ads, and others.

So if it seems that less new posts than usual are occuring, it's due to me filling in the posts I've put up in the past weeks from all the cool stuff I've found in magazines that Tris and Newt let me borrow.

Thanks Tris and Newt!

This might be the reason Carroll sued Ford over the rights to the "Cobra" naming rights

In which the Ford company thought they would be justified in naming a piece of crap "Cobra II" and using Carroll's photo and the GT 350 Cobra Mustang to convince us that this 76 Cobra II was worth our attention

Just in case you thought the world was making sense... I find a 1976 Charger Daytona, and Richard Petty selling it

The above ad is Richard Petty as the spokeman for the Dodge Charger Daytona... ( really? Anything no matter how beneath your dignity, for a buck?) and below, the same car, where an editor captioned it and inferred Petty would have nothing to do with it

For more on the 1977-78 Charger, see; http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/06/1977-78-van-advertising-now-that-was.html

Icons of hot rodding, Offy, Weiand, Eddie Meyer, Navarro, Halibrand, Italmeccanica

Phil Weiand the man, was injured (1934) in his 20's doing about 110 on public streets when his roadster spun and flipped, paralyzing him fromt he waist down. He'd traded a mandolin for his first jalopy at age 14, and worked at making it faster from that day on. During WW2 he was melting all the spare aluminum he could find and was making intakes that were better than the competition and in demand by the best. http://www.nitrogeezers.com/Legends%20-%20Phil%20Weiand.htm

1953 Gran Prix winner, driven by Fangio you aren't going to top that easily

To correct a misconception, The AMX wasn't plastic or fiberglass. So go on and enjoy the only steel two seater of it's time... Mr Natural

Too bad the javelins and amx-s were all such plastic crap. some of them were way fast.
Mr Natural

But they weren't. They were steel.
The AMX was touted as the first steel-bodied, two seat American performance car since the 1957 Thunderbird

The AMX was the only American steel bodied two seater of its time.

Are you as stunned as I am? Trading S&W stamps for a Harley!

the fine print says "S&W greenstamps are all you need to get this neat and nimble Harley Davidson Sportscycle. Its a kick to start - just one only. It goes anywhere, parks anywhere, and costs just pennies to run. It has a 2 cycle engine and 3 speeds, and rides like a dream. So be sure you stop where you get S&W Green Stamps, and soon you'll be off breezing down the turnpike with your best girl holding on tight behind you. Treat yourself with S&H Green Stamps"

Possibly the earliest Shelby Sports Cars advertising, long before the AC Cobra
